Young Entrepreneurs Receive Prizes from YABT/ OAS for Innovative Projects in TIC Americas 2010

The International community celebrates the entrepreneurial talents of the youth from the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia, with the presentation of prizes to twele teams whose projects are winners in the finals of the Eco - Challenge and Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas), previous to the XL General Assembly of the Organization of los American States (OAS).

TIC Americas is a competition of young entrepreneurs. The best and more sustainable small businesses are chosen and awarded with financial prices, training, mentoring, and other important tools to succeed in the business world. Since 2006, TIC Americas has built a portfolio of more than 3,200 business projects that involve over 9,000 young entrepreneurs from 42 countries

More than 1200 teams registered their business ideas in TIC Americas 2010, representing 36 countries from the Americas and abroad. Thirty two teams were selected to compete in the live Finals. In Jun 2010 TIC Americas was held in Lima, Peru, and a panel of experts selected the best projects

The awards were given in twelve categories:

Spirit of Entrepreneurship	Alyra Labs - Costa Rica Production of an alternative treatment against snake bites.
Social Entrepreneurship	Directorio Verde - Argentina Online guide for sustainable products and services in Argentina.
Tradition and Culture	Virtualibros Uruguay Libro interactivo que permite al usuario acceder a una nueva forma de aprender.
New Markets	Mi Guia Educativa Costa Rica New virtual platform offering personalized products and services for training and psycho-education advice for parents and students.
E-Business	Mikomovil - Colombia Tool based in proximity marketing that allows sending multimedia content to cellular phones.
Creative Design	Touch IT Dream On - Uruguay Development of touch screen devices for applications in restaurants, real state, or general information for customers
International Alliance	Wormhole IT Argentina Web platform for real time communication and collaboration including audio, video, documents and data.
People Choice	Clean Plastic - Colombia Fabrication and commercialization of compostable plastic products with innovative designs
TIC Americas Peru	Taximart - Peru Service that enables taxi users to request (via PC or cell phone software) a car, including origin, destination, and time.
TIC Americas MERCOSUR	3D Housing - Argentina To show through a method of virtual reality the structure and planning of a building, before it is constructed.

Big Tank - Colombia The mayor of the city put the Water Detectives on a secret mission. For some unknown reason, the big tank of water is destroyed every night, and the city is running out of water/ Nobody knows who could be behind this, so the Water Detectives have to find who is responsible, and impede more waste of water.

Best Community Solutio

Ingenieros sin Fronteras - Colombia The project emphasizes in the appropriate use of sustainable technologies through two technologies: Purification Train; that will be implemented in community centers during emergency situations, in which the innovation is the versatility and portability of the filter. The second technology is the Sand Filter for homes, which is developed by cannibalism between micro-organisms and in that way, it guarantees secure water.

Mi Guia Educativa - Costa Rica Virtual platform offering personalized products and services for training and psycho-education advice for parents and students.

Prospera - Mexico PROSPERA develops innovative ways to bring together farmers, logistics providers, retailers, universities and investors to help microenterprises grow and become sustainable sources of employment opportunities. PROSPERA goes beyond microfinance by fundamentally transforming the way micro enterprises operate and do business. The organization offers a scalable buying group and Supply Chain Management Services to microenterprises in Mexico and Latin America.

Vigo Pan - Peru VIGO PAN "The force of the earth" is fortified bread which has replaced 40% of wheat flour with Arraccacia xanthrorriza grown in the Andes. VIGO PAN provides greater nutritional value to the consumer, and aims to be a viable alternative that allows the country to reduce dependence on imported inputs such as wheat flour.
